Joshua Broadbent
is an Australian-based theatrical practitioner with an extensive career within Stage Management for musical theatre.
Joshua graduated of The National Institute of Dramatic in 2015 with a Bachelor of Dramatic Art (Production). Since then, he has tour Australia as an Assistant Stage Manager on productions such as The Wizard of Oz and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (Crossroads Live), Props/Assistant Stage Manager on Evita (Crossroads Live/Opera Australia) and Assistant Stage Manager/Props on Come From Away (NewTheatricals).
In Sydney, he has worked locally as a Swing Props Technician on Matilda the Musical (Louise Withers and Associates/Royal Shakespeare Company), Covid Marshal and Stage Management Swing/Book Cover on 9 to 5 (Crossroads Live), Stage Manager and Company Stage Manager on Once (Darlinghurst Theatre Company), Stage Manager on Awakening Shadow (Sydney Chamber Opera), Stage Manager on Darkness (NewTheatricals), Deputy Stage Manager on Sweeney Todd The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (Victorian Opera) and Stage Manager of Earth.Voice.Body (Sydney Chamber Opera).
In 2022 Joshua launched Whispers In The Wings, a podcast that takes you behind the scenes of the theatrical world where he welcomes seasoned industry professionals to share their fascinating career journeys, from humble beginnings to the exhilarating present.
Joshua embarked on a new chapter in his career in 2023 after joining Opera Australia as a Production Administrator. This transition within the arts industry presented him with the opportunity to further develop his skills and knowledge of the arts working across significant outdoor events like Handa Opera on Sydney Harbour, as well as their National and School tours. In May 2024 he was promoted to an Associate Producer.
