Joshua Broadbent
is an Australian-based theatrical practitioner and producer with over a decade of experience in Stage Management. A 2015 graduate of the National Institute of Dramatic Art (Bachelor of Dramatic Art – Production), he has toured nationally as Assistant Stage Manager on The Wizard of Oz and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (Gordon Frost Organisation), Props/Assistant Stage Manager on Evita (GFO/Opera Australia), Assistant Stage Manager/Props on Come From Away (NewTheatricals), and as Company Stage Manager for Once (Darlinghurst Theatre Company).
In Sydney, Joshua’s credits include Swing Props on Matilda the Musical (Louise Withers and Associates/Royal Shakespeare Company), COVID Marshal and Stage Management Swing on 9 to 5 (Crossroads Live), Stage Manageron Awakening Shadow and Earth.Voice.Body (Sydney Chamber Opera), Stage Manager on Darkness (NewTheatricals), and Deputy Stage Manager on Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (Victorian Opera).
In 2022, Joshua launched Whispers in the Wings, a podcast that takes audiences behind the scenes of the theatrical world, featuring candid conversations with seasoned industry professionals about their journeys from humble beginnings to the exhilarating present.
In 2023, Joshua joined Opera Australia as a Production Administrator, supporting major projects including West Side Story (Handa Opera on Sydney Harbour) and La Bohème (National Tour). In April 2024, he was promoted to Associate Producer, working on large-scale productions such as Guys & Dolls (Handa Opera on Sydney Harbour), La Bohème (National Tour 2024/25), Opera on the Oval at Katherine Regional Arts, the New Year’s Eve Gala at the Sydney Opera House, and upcoming projects including Don Giovanni (National Tour 2026/27), Mozart’s Requiem at City Recital Hall and Opera Australia’s Gala at Canberra Theatre Centre.
